What is Disillusionment?
Disillusionment means one has realized that their perception and the truth are not the same.
Disillusionment is finding out the people who were meant to nurture, love and protect you are out to dismantle you in an attempt to have some control over you.
It’s getting hurt so bad you confront them and find out that they don’t feel any guilt or remorse because their mindset is far different from yours.
It’s accepting that you know what they did, you know what kind of person they are and no longer getting surprised because you know what to expect.
Oftentimes people come to know that what they knew or believed about an event, a person, a relationship, a system and the society we live in is different from what is the truth.
When that happens we have two options:
1. Come to terms with the reality
2. Try to escape
Some undergo therapy, others bury themselves in entertainment, food, drugs, activity, associations, fetishes and religion. People go seeking closure and searching for possible explanations to what happened to them in an attempt to close the gap between their perception and reality.
