A Poem — On Conservation
Your vision O nestling,
constrained
by man’s designs
How the unfettered are restrained!
Shiny constellations danced
upon the clear waters
Wiggling their tails,
the fishes sang to match their rhythm
The lady antelopes played
dangerous catch with the King of the Jungle
Aunt Lampy and the uncles played
hide and seek with kids all too gullible
No more clicks or chirps,
neither whistles nor whining
Our once colorful orchestra
overtaken by honks and machines whirring
On foreign landscapes we roam,
embers fading
Remembering friends, anticipating
our reunion, the moon an enduring witness
