How to Not Settle in Life

Each society has its rough blueprint for how life should proceed.

For example, Go to school >>Get a job >>Get married >>Have kids >>Promotion, promotion, promotion >>Retirement.

It’s being ingrained into people’s heads. So all these things at some point in life are achievements to be strived for and when gotten they are worth celebrating.

Majority of people settle once a few of these boxes are ticked, especially the marriage and children one. The problem word in all of this is SETTLE. If you want to go far in life, one of the things you should learn is to not settle.

A Lesson from Israel’s Patriarch

In Genesis 11 we see such a person, Abraham. God has called Abraham out of His Father’s land and is leading him. The initial call said, ‘go to the land I will show you’

As Abraham journeyed, he arrived at Shechem, here, God appeared to him, and told him “To your offspring I will give this land”. Abraham acknowledged God’s covenant and built an altar there.

He continued on his journey. He circled round and back to Bethel. It was here, his men had a dispute with Lot’s men, the land could not contain them both. Abraham had the call, Abraham got God’s…
