1. You Need a Higher Source

“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” ~ Matthew 22:37

You need to be intentional about maintaining connection with a higher source.

Why?

Because everyone has baggage, trauma, and insecurities which came about as a result of living in a hurting world — Hurting people hurt others. One can only classify as a source if they will not fail or falter in their ability to love. For me, God is capable of that love.

I’ve found that you can’t give what you do not have. That is why codependency is the doom of many relationships. When you take from someone who is already lacking you leave them depleted. What you need is a source that will never run out. A love that is active, unrestrained, unashamed and willing to go all out for you, all the time.

The verse above which says to love God is not a requirement for him to love us. It’s our intention to maintain the connection. “We love because He first loved us”. ~ 1 John 4:19
