Do I have to write today?

I feel like I ought to publish something today but i do not want to open up any of my drafts.

I’ve had a long day.

From battling dandruff to making a reunion family meal, to unfolded laundry and kids yet to get a bath.

Now I understand why most articles I’ve read about writing, advice one to write in the morning.

I do not want to use any previous drafts for two reasons:

  1. I feel I may get overwhelmed by the process of trying to perfect it.

2. I thought I should just be honest with myself and readers about my ‘now’

My ‘now’ is very tired. My ‘now’ has a lot of pending chores. Yet, I feel I should write something in the ‘now’ and so I did.

Writing this has made me realize the importance of journaling.

As writers, we must write.

It is first for ourselves and secondly for our readers.

You might be inspired to share with others or not, but when you feel that urge to write, by all means do.

Write especially in the moments that feel overwhelming and overbearing, in the moments that feel impossible. Go ahead and do it.

Do it now, later will take care of itself.

So this is a note to myself and a thank you note to my readers. Thanks for giving me a chance. Thanks for spurring me on. Thanks for making me want to write even when there is a chaos all around me. Thank you.
